The rough, hand-typed and hastily assembled field report by a team of Institute agents that vanished. This is the full-length, unedited account of ‘The Final Incident’, an Extra-Dimensional accident that occurred in an American suburb in the 1950s. Created on the only equipment the agents could find; a broken-down Olivetti typewriter, a mimeograph printer and a jar of paste. This Security Level 3 artifact is issued in the confidential TRI inter-office portfolio. Inspected and verified free of radioactivity. For the eyes of Institute researchers and cleared extra-agency contractors only.
In 1987, the Thaxton Research Institute sent field agents to Memphis to investigate an anomaly known as The Final Incident.
The field agents vanished and were never seen again.
Thirty-eight years later, an algorithmic monitoring system found a coded message in the comments of a random Reddit post.
The coded message was: A bluebird murdered a bluebird in front of another bluebird.
The word Bluebird used three times in a sentence was the lost team’s code for extreme distress.
Three days later a second message gave the address of an industrial park abandoned since 1987, with instructions to look inside the office’s dead phone equipment. An agent was sent to the site and found the report in the casing of an abandoned phone system. The agent encountered either magnetic or electrical anomalies on site, and reported interference from a malevolent presence.
